Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Critical Care Stepdown team at Mercy Hospital St. Louis. This part-time role covers Day and Night shifts (24 hours per week).

The incumbent will provide transitional care for intermediate-acuity patients, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and participate in governance and quality initiatives. Qualifications include ADN/ Diploma/ BSN with Missouri RN licensure or compact licensure, BLS, and preferred ACLS/NIHSS/PCCN.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• BSN preferred.
• Current Missouri RN license or compact license.
• Required: BLS (American Heart Association).
• Preferred: ACLS, NIHSS, PCCN, or other Stepdown-related certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg level.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care using evidence-based practices.
• Perform accurate hand-offs and bedside shift reporting to maintain patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and multidisciplinary partners to optimize patient outcomes.
• Administer medications, monitor complex conditions (cardiac, respiratory, post-ICU), and support recovery.
• Participate in huddles, shared governance activities, and unit-based quality improvement initiatives.
