Job summary

HAN Staff is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to work in Leavenworth, KS, in a correctional healthcare setting. The role includes a travel package with hourly pay and lodging/stipend, plus 36 hours per week and 12-hour shifts (days or nights).

Qualifications

• Current, valid KS nursing license in good standing.
• Minimum 1 year of psychiatric nurse experience.
• A nursing degree from an accredited school.
• BLS certification by American Heart Association or equivalent.
• Additional certifications may be required.
• Provide PSV from licensing board if required.
• Maintain current required certifications and compliance documents.

Responsibilities

• Monitor inmate/resident hospitalizations and medical conditions.
• Supervise and guide nursing and medical staff.
• Coordinate with facility staff, healthcare providers, and outside agencies.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare, correctional, pharmacy, and safety policies.
• Review medical records for accuracy and appropriate services.
• Monitor pharmacy use and controlled substances.
• Provide health education and counseling.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of medical records.
• Prepare required reports, records, and incident documentation.
• Support accreditation requirements (NCCHC, ACA, JCAHO).
• Prepare safety and incident reports and respond to emergencies.

Travel Rate (based on 36 hours): Hourly $20.20, Stipend (Lodging $833.00 + M&I $357.00) = $1,190.00

Total Comp :$1,917.20

Travel Eligibility: Candidates must live at least 70+ miles from the facility to qualify for Travel Pay.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current, valid, and unrestricted KS license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.
• Must have minimum of one (1) year of psychiatric nurse experience.
• A degree from an accredited school of Nursing
• BLS through American Heart Association or equivalent
• Additional certifications may be required
• Copy of current, completed Primary Source Verification (PSV) from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.
• Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., .BLS, N95 fit test, immunization records, TB test, or other client-specific requirements).
