Job summary

Columbiana Health & Rehabilitation seeks an RN Clinical Educator / Staff Development Coordinator to train, mentor, and develop a nursing team through orientation, education, competency development, mentoring, and ongoing clinical support.

This role emphasizes hands‑on coaching and on‑the‑floor presence, with leadership collaboration to elevate nursing practice and ensure readiness for surveys and quality initiatives.

Qualifications

• Current Alabama RN license in good standing.
• Strong clinical nursing knowledge and assessment skills.
• Excellent teaching, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
• Strong organization and follow‑through.
• Comfortable coaching, mentoring, and providing constructive feedback.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate nursing orientation and onboarding.
• Help new nurses and CNAs transition into roles.
• Provide clinical education and hands‑on skills training.
• Assess staff learning needs and develop education.
• Conduct and document required competencies.
• Coordinate annual and regulatory education.
• Maintain education and training records.
• Provide hands‑on coaching on the nursing units.
• Strengthen clinical confidence and competency among RNs, LPNs, CNAs.
• Collaborate with Director of Nursing and Administrator.
• Support quality initiatives, infection prevention, and survey readiness.
• Monitor training compliance and follow‑up education.

Position Overview

As our RN Clinical Educator / Staff Development Coordinator, you'll help build and maintain a knowledgeable, confident nursing team through orientation, education, competency development, mentoring, and ongoing clinical support.

This isn't simply a classroom position.

You will be visible in the building, connected to the nursing team, and actively involved in helping employees succeed.

What You'll Do

• Coordinate nursing orientation and onboarding
• Help new nurses and CNAs successfully transition into their roles
• Provide clinical education and hands‑on skills training
• Assess staff learning needs and develop appropriate education
• Conduct and document required competencies
• Coordinate annual and regulatory‑required education
• Maintain employee education and training records
• Provide hands‑on coaching and reinforcement on the nursing units
• Help RNs, LPNs, and CNAs strengthen clinical confidence and competency
• Work closely with the Director of Nursing and Administrator
• Support quality initiatives, infection prevention, and survey readiness as assigned
• Monitor training compliance and provide follow‑up education
• Help identify and develop future nursing leaders
• Recognize and celebrate employee growth

Qualifications

• Current Alabama Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Strong clinical nursing knowledge and assessment skills
• Excellent teaching, communication, and interpersonal abilities
• Strong organization and follow‑through
• Comfortable coaching, mentoring, and providing constructive feedback
• Ability to perform and validate clinical competencies
• Ability to maintain accurate education and training documentation
• Acute care, rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or long‑term care experience preferred

Experience That Can Translate Well

Previous experience as a Nurse Educator, Staff Development Coordinator, RN Preceptor, Charge Nurse, Clinical Resource Nurse, or nursing leader is a plus.

Experienced bedside RNs with a strong interest in education and staff development are encouraged to apply.
