Job summary

Capital Health is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist to ensure accurate documentation and DRG assignment across the hospital network.

The role engages with physicians, nurses, and coding staff to maintain high-quality health records and support appropriate reimbursement. An RN with CDI credentials or CDI experience is preferred, with 40 hours weekly and NJ location.

Qualifications

• RN with active license; BSN preferred.
• Two years’ acute care experience or three years’ coding/CDI experience in a hospital setting.
• CCD/ CDIP preferred; strong clinical documentation knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Complete initial reviews of patient records within 24-48 hours to evaluate documentation for accurate DRG assignment.
• Follow-up reviews every 2-3 days until discharge to support working/final DRG.
• Query physicians for missing or unclear documentation and educate care teams on documentation guidelines.
