Job summary

R1 RCM Inc. in the United States is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist.

You will perform concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient records, identify opportunities to improve documentation quality, and support accurate severity of illness and resource use. The role requires an RN license, frontline CDI experience in acute care, and 3–5 years of medical-surgical, ICU, telemetry, or ED experience.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing; bachelor's preferred.
• Active US RN license required.
• Front line CDI experience in acute care hospital.
• 3–5 years clinical experience in medical-surgical, ICU, telemetry or ED.
• Experience with EMR platforms and CDI platforms.
• US-based position; base pay range provided.

Responsibilities

• Conduct concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient records.
• Identify documentation opportunities to improve quality and reimbursement.
• Educate physicians and staff on documentation and coding guidelines.
• Collaborate with coders, auditors, quality teams to resolve issues.
• Stay updated on CDI standards and regulatory changes.
• Lead focus reviews in Mortality and PSI areas.
