Job summary

Datavant is seeking a Clinical Documentation Quality Improvement (CDQI) Specialist to elevate medical record documentation quality and DRG accuracy. You will work with providers to improve clarity, completeness, and coding precision, influencing payer reimbursements and patient care data quality.

The role requires CDI and clinical experience in an academic medical center, RN license with a Bachelor's in Nursing, CCDS/CDIP certification, and the ability to pass a CDI skills assessment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of CDI experience.
• 3+ years of clinical experience in an academic medical center.
• RN license and Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• CCDS or CDIP certification required.
• Must pass a CDI skills competency assessment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct timely, accurate documentation reviews for inpatient records.
• Collaborate with physicians to ensure appropriate reimbursement and DRG accuracy.
• Demonstrate understanding of comorbidities, severity of illness, and DRG impact.
• Educate physicians on documentation quality to improve coding specificity.
• Follow AHA guidelines and coding clinics for compliant documentation.
• Query physicians to obtain missing or conflicting health record information.
• Maintain daily production logs of reviewed cases and queries.
• Perform follow-up reviews to confirm clarifications in the record.
• Ensure confidentiality and meet production and quality metrics.
