Job summary

Datavant is seeking a Clinical Documentation Quality Improvement (CDQI) Specialist to elevate medical record documentation quality. You will review inpatient records, collaborate with physicians, and ensure accurate coding and appropriate documentation to support DRG-based reimbursements.

You will maintain production logs, perform follow-up reviews, and follow AHA guidelines while protecting patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of CDI experience.
• 3+ years of clinical experience in an academic medical center.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inpatient documentation reviews to improve clarity and completeness.
• Collaborate with physicians to ensure appropriate DRG-based reimbursement and accuracy of clinical severity.
• Demonstrate understanding of complications, comorbidities, severity of illness, risk of mortality, case mix index, and the impact of procedures on DRG.
• Educate physicians and caregivers on documentation importance to improve coding specificity.
• Follow AHA guidelines and coding clinics for accurate coding and required documentation.
• Query physicians for missing or unclear health record documentation.
• Maintain daily production logs of cases reviewed and queries.
• Perform follow-up reviews to confirm points of clarification in medical records.
• Ensure confidentiality of all files, documents and records.
• Meet or exceed production and quality metrics.
