Job summary

R1 RCM, Inc. is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist in the Nashville area with an active RN license and CDI experience.

You will conduct concurrent and retrospective reviews to improve the quality and completeness of inpatient documentation, supporting appropriate severity of illness, risk of mortality and care complexity. You will lead physician interactions, educate staff on documentation requirements, and work with CDI leadership to drive focused reviews and

Qualifications

• RN with active US license required.
• Three to five years of clinical work in medical-surgical, ICU, telemetry or ED.
• Knowledge of EMR and CDI platforms and related guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Initiates physician interaction via queries to obtain needed documentation.
• Educates physicians and staff on documentation and coding guidelines.
• Applies coding clinic guidelines to assign DRGs and ensure highest specificity.
• Collaborates with coders, auditors and CDI teams to resolve documentation issues.
