Job summary

R1 RCM, Inc. is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist to perform concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient records, identifying opportunities to improve documentation quality and reimburse­ment.

You will work on Mortality, PSI reviews and partner with CDI leadership to guide physician documentation enhancements. Qualified candidates hold an active RN license, have frontline CDI experience in acute care, and possess 3–5 years of medical-surgical/ICU/telemetry/ED

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing is required or equivalent.
• Active US RN license required.
• Front line CDI experience in acute care hospital required.
• 3–5 years of clinical work in medical-surgical, ICU, telemetry or ED.
• Knowledge of EMR/CDI platforms and coding guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Initiates physician interaction to obtain missing or conflicting information for accurate coding and compliance.
• Educates physicians and staff on documentation requirements, coding guidelines, and reimbursement policies.
• Applies coding guidelines and hospital policies to assign DRGs with high specificity.
• Collaborates with coders, auditors, and quality teams to resolve documentation issues.
• Keeps up-to-date with CDI standards, coding rules, and regulatory requirements.
• Conducts focused reviews in Mortality, PSI, and other CDI projects.
