Job summary

R1 RCM, Inc. is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist to perform concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient records, using clinical and coding knowledge to improve documentation quality and reflect accurate severity of illness and resource use.

You will interact with physicians, educate staff on documentation guidelines, and ensure codes reflect the highest specificity while adhering to CMS rules; an active US RN license is required.

Qualifications

• Knowledgeable in CDI practices and documentation rules for quality outcomes.
• Front Line CDI experience in acute care hospital settings.
• Active US RN license required; 3–5 years clinical work in medical-surgical, ICU, telemetry or ED.

Responsibilities

• Initiates physician interaction for documentation clarity through queries.
• Educates physicians and staff on documentation guidelines and reimbursement policies.
• Applies coding guidelines to assign DRGs and ensure highest specificity in codes.
