Job summary

R1 RCM Inc. is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist in the United States to enhance documentation quality, coding accuracy, and reimbursement for inpatient records.

You will perform concurrent and retrospective reviews, identify opportunities for improved documentation, and drive physician engagement to ensure accurate severity of illness and complexity of care. The role requires an active US RN license, frontline CDI experience in an acute care hospital, and familiarity

Qualifications

• Frontline CDI experience in an acute care hospital.
• Active US RN license is required.
• Three to five years of recent clinical work in medical-surgical, ICU, telemetry, or ED.
• Knowledge of EMR/CDI platforms and CMS regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient records to improve documentation quality and reimbursement.
• Engage physicians to obtain documentation for accurate severity of illness and resource use.
• Educate clinicians and staff on documentation guidelines and reimbursement policies.
• Collaborate with coders, auditors, and quality teams to resolve documentation issues and improve coding accuracy.
