Job summary

R1 RCM Inc. is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist to review inpatient records and drive documentation quality.

You will focus on accurate documentation of severity of illness and complexity of care, guiding physicians and CDI staff on best practices. Required are an active US RN license, frontline CDI experience in an acute care hospital, and 3–5 years of medical-surgical/ICU/telemetry/ED work, with knowledge of EMR/CDI platforms.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in nursing; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Active US RN license required.
• Front line CDI experience in an acute care hospital.
• Three to five years of recent clinical work in the medical-surgical area, ICU, telemetry, or ED.
• Knowledge or experience with EMR and CDI platforms.

Responsibilities

• Perform concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient records to improve documentation and coding accuracy.
• Identify opportunities to enhance severity of illness, risk of mortality, and resource use.
• Educate providers and staff on documentation requirements and reimbursement policies.
• Collaborate with coders, auditors, and quality teams to resolve documentation issues.
