R1 RCM, Inc. is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist to conduct concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient records.

You will identify documentation opportunities to support appropriate severity of illness, risk of mortality and care complexity, guiding physician documentation and CDI initiatives. The role requires CDI expertise in acute care, strong collaboration with coders and quality teams, and ongoing education for providers.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s Degree preferred).
• An active US RN license is required.
• Front line CDI experience in an acute care hospital.
• Three to five years of recent clinical work in medical-surgical, ICU, telemetry, or ED.
• Knowledge or experience with EMR and CDI platforms.

Responsabilités

• Initiates physician interaction through queries and rounding to obtain documentation for correct coding and compliance.
• Educates physicians and staff on documentation, coding guidelines, and reimbursement policies.
• Applies coding rules to assign DRG and ensure accuracy of hospital records during hospitalization.
• Collaborates with coders, auditors and quality teams to resolve issues and improve coding accuracy.
• Stays updated on clinical documentation standards, coding rules, and regulatory requirements.
• Conducts focused reviews in Mortality, PSI, and other CDI projects.
