Job summary

Empath Health is seeking an RN as part of our hospice team in southwest Florida. The role involves identifying and addressing patient and family needs, delivering preventive and supportive care to terminally ill individuals, and ensuring high quality life experiences for patients and families.

The RN will supervise LPNs and aides in the GIP environment, report to the Care Coordinator or Care Center Manager, and may be required to float to other units as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
  • Florida RN license required.
  • Minimum 1 year of bedside nursing experience.
  • Preferred: experience with terminally ill patients or in acute/post-acute care.

Job description

Schedule: 8:00 PM to 8:30 AM This position follows a rotating two-week schedule: Week 1: Monday, Friday, and Saturday Week 2: Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday

What you'll Do:

Is responsible for identifying and coordinating patient/family needs and for providing preventive and supportive care to the terminally ill patient/family unit. Utilizes assessment, intervention and teaching skills to maximize patient comfort and to enhance the quality of life to the patient/family unit. Provides oversight and supervision of the LPN and/or aide for the delivery of patient care in the GIP environment. The RN reports to Patient/Family Care Coordinator/Care Center Manager. Required to float if needed.

What you'll Need

Position Requirements minimum of 1 year recent bedside nursing Education and/or Experience: Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; Minimum of or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensure: Valid Florida license as a Registered Nurse Valid Florida State Driver’s License Minimum of 1 year of current active nursing experience; with experience in caring for terminally ill patients or those with life threatening illnesses preferred; prefer one (1) year experience in an acute or post acute care setting.
