Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of RN experience.
• Cardiac Critical Care experience preferred (minimum one year).
• Current RN license from Virginia or reciprocal compact state.
• BSN preferred.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• ACLS required within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate nursing care, including oversight of licensed and unlicensed personnel using the nursing process and interdisciplinary teamwork to achieve patient outcomes.
• Coordinate involvement of patient, family and health team members in care, including teaching and discharge planning.
• Communicate and coordinate the plan of care and other pertinent information with the health team.
• Assist leadership to define standards of excellence for patient care and participate in improving services.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and quality improvement.
• Participate in orientation of new staff (permanent and temporary).
• Serve as point of contact on hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Engage in daily operational activities for a safe patient/staff environment.
• Provide input to the Nurse Manager regarding unit needs.
• Participate in committees for nursing and hospital policy formation.
• Complete physical assessments; identify potential clinical issues and emergent situations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
