Qualifications

• Must have completed coursework and examinations to obtain certification as a Resident Care Associate.
• Must maintain certification with continuing education credits as required by the state.
• Knowledge of safe medication administration techniques with competency evaluation.
• CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• Understand and practice resident confidentiality.
• Ability to work weekends and flexible hours.
• Show sincere compassion for seniors and their families.
• Proficient in basic office equipment (PC).

Responsibilities

• Assists in monitoring and safe delivery of the Medication Management Program.
• Adheres to established policies and procedures and state standards when administering medications.
• Administers and records medications as prescribed and observes effects.
• Presents medication to residents and observes ingestion or other administration techniques.
• Observes, records, and reports adverse actions or side effects to ensure resident safety.
• Determines and records effectiveness of medications in a timely manner.
• Documents refusals and reasons for non-administration as per physician orders.
• Stores medications safely and maintains inventory accuracy.
• Maintains communication logs with resident updates and follow-up.
• Demonstrates safe handling of controlled substances and reports discrepancies.
• Inspects and maintains equipment and supplies for resident safety.
• Records vital signs during medication administration as indicated.
• Performs routine restocking and ordering of resident medications.
• Documents pertinent information in resident records and incident reports.
• Follows infection control practices and OSHA standards.
• Communicates clearly with residents and staff and seeks guidance as needed.
• Provides verbal encouragement and support to residents.
• Maintains a safe and clean environment and professional demeanor.
• Participates in required trainings and education programs.
