Job summary

Ghai Management is seeking a Director of Risk to lead risk management across general liability, workers’ compensation, safety programs, and insurance procurement for a multi-state retail/restaurant environment.

The role requires executive presence, strategic thinking, and strong communication to drive change, optimize processes, and enhance financial performance through risk control and effective vendor management.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of leadership in risk management.
• Bachelor’s or another relevant degree required.
• Experience in large, self-insured programs including self-administered litigated claims preferred.
• Executive presence with ability to lead change and engage internal stakeholders with relevant data.
• Experience in retail, restaurant, or CPG with dispersed locations; fast-paced, growing companies.
• Strong understanding of Worker’s Compensation, General Liability, Property and other risk programs.
• Financial acumen for insurance procurement, budgeting, and risk management including actuarial analysis and claim trend reporting.
• Goal-driven leader who motivates, mobilizes, and coaches employees to high performance.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead the GL/WC claim program management for multiple states, overseeing policies and procedures.
• Direct relationships with Third-Party Claims Administrators to ensure SLAs are met.
• Grow and mentor internal teams on GL/WC matters and educate management on trends.
• Lead safety initiatives with field teams to reduce loss trends and OSHA/CalOSHA exposure.
• Oversee safety audits and drive improvements based on findings.
• Procure company-wide insurance (Casualty, Property, Cyber, Fiduciary) and manage annual renewals with brokers and finance.
