Job summary

Gresham Smith, Nashville office, seeks a Risk Manager to support policy development, renewals, and risk assessments across projects. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; professional licensure preferred.
• 5–10 years of relevant AEC industry experience, including reviewing and negotiating professional services agreements.
• Experience in design or project management, professional liability insurance, claims, litigation support, or policy development.
• Ability to evaluate, explain, and negotiate complex professional services agreements.
• Knowledge of professional liability insurance, insurance requirements, claims reporting, and litigation processes.
• Knowledge of construction processes for large vertical and horizontal projects, including experience negotiating and resolving design and construction issues.
• Strong judgment and organizational skills to prioritize, escalate when needed, analyze risk, and prepare concise reports.
• Strong interpersonal, written communication, and negotiation skills to address complex issues with designers, management, attorneys, insurers, and clients.
• Experience with Deltek, Newforma, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Office, and AI productivity tools.

Responsibilities

• Support the Director of Risk Management with policy development and annual reporting.
• Manage assigned contract, project, insurance, incident, and claims matters from intake through resolution.
• Independently resolve routine risk matters and escalate material risks.
• Review and assess professional services agreements to identify unacceptable terms.
• Advise staff on contractual risks and negotiate terms with clients, designers, and legal counsel.
• Maintain contract review practices and escalation procedures.
• Support pursuit decisions by communicating risk considerations.
• Document project issues and prepare written correspondence.
• Maintain incident reporting and claims management procedures and prepare status reports.
• Coordinate communications among project teams, insurers, and senior management.
• Review subconsultant terms for risk, indemnity, and insurance.</br>Prepare submissions for brokers and insurers.
• Monitor risk metrics, analyze incident data, and prepare management reports.
• Maintain risk management policies, training materials, and tools.
• Use AI-enabled productivity tools responsibly in risk management activities.
• Deliver risk management training and participate in industry organizations.
• Contribute to shaping environments where people live, work, and thrive.
