Risk and Medical Underwriting Lead Analyst (Hybrid) (Finance)

About the Role:

Join Cigna's Underwriting team, where you'll utilize your analytical, risk management, and portfolio management skills in a dynamic environment. As an Underwriter, you will evaluate risks, set premium rates, and impact our business positively by protecting Cigna's financial stability and ensuring our commitments to customers.

Core Responsibilities:

• Learn and utilize manual and claim experience rating models and pricing tools.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop rates for large, complex cases independently.
• Provide strategic insights related to market competition, product development, and pricing.
• Engage with Sales and Clients through presale and inforce case strategies and discussions.
• Assist Sales as a financial consultant, understanding rating models, claim projections, and plan designs.
• Manage a diverse book of business focused on profitable growth and persistency.
• Collaborate across teams to optimize cross-sale opportunities and provide market insights.
• Work independently, exercising judgment in evaluating techniques and procedures.
• Communicate directly with Sales, brokers, and clients.
• Mentor less experienced underwriters and serve as a subject matter expert.
• Promote best practices and lead by example within the team.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3+ years of medical underwriting experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Management, Mathematics, Business, or related fields (preferred but not required).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage complex cases and adapt to market changes.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Passion for leadership in the health services industry.
• Innovative, customer-centric, and analytically driven mindset.

Additional Details:

Remote work requires internet service via cable broadband or fiber optic with at least 10Mbps download and 5Mbps upload speeds.

Salary range: $74,300 - $123,900 annually, depending on experience and location, with eligibility for an annual bonus.
