About the Role

Core Responsibilities

1. Learn manual and claim experience rating models and pricing tools quickly.
2. Perform risk assessments and develop rates for large, complex cases independently.
3. Provide strategic recommendations on market competition, product development, and pricing.
4. Engage with Sales and Clients on case strategies and market discussions.
5. Assist Sales as a financial consultant with in-depth knowledge of rating models and pricing adjustments.
6. Manage a complex book of business focusing on profitable growth and persistency.
7. Collaborate across Underwriting to optimize cross-sale opportunities.
8. Work with product/pricing teams to advise on market needs.
9. Operate autonomously, applying judgment to techniques and procedures.
10. Hold calls with Sales, brokers, or clients independently.
11. Mentor less experienced underwriters, sharing expertise on complex issues.
12. Lead by example, influencing underwriting practices and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

1. 3+ years of medical underwriting experience preferred.
2. Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Management, Mathematics, Business, or related fields (preferred but not required).
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
4. Ability to manage complex cases in a changing market.
5. Excellent decision-making and negotiation skills.
6. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
7. Passion for leadership in health services.
8. Innovative, customer-centric, and analytical mindset.

Additional Details

Work from home occasionally or permanently requires broadband internet (min 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload).

Salary range: $74,300 - $123,900 annually, based on experience and location.

Eligible for an annual bonus plan.
