Job summary

UFP Industries, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Production Manager to supervise a department for three months at a time, rotating through plant mill, industrial, and related areas.

The role plans short- and long-term activity, supports scheduling, and drives efficiency and quality improvements. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in business or a related field, completion of the Production Management Trainee Step 1 program, and strong MS Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or related discipline is required.
• Completion of the Production Management Trainee - Step 1 program and recommendation of management.
• Proficiency in the use of MS Excel/spreadsheets is required.

Responsibilities

• Plans activity for the short-term and long-term.
• Develops department production schedule.
• Supervises the activity of a group of employees and motivates for maximum productivity.
• Ensures that operations meet or exceed efficiency and quality standards.
• Identifies, researches, and resolves problems and improvement initiatives.
• Evaluates performance of subordinates and initiates corrective actions as required.
• Supervises activities consistent with UFP policies, procedures, and applicable law.
• Participates in inventory process and understands inventory controls.
• Develops understanding of hiring process and product costing.
• Develops knowledge of production scheduling and budgeting.
