Job summary

UFP Industries, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Production Manager to supervise one department for a three‑month rotation across plant operations and support services, building knowledge of manufacturing processes.

The role emphasizes planning, scheduling, cost control, safety, and continuous improvement, while coordinating with HR and management to implement process improvements and ensure policy compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Completion of Production Management Trainee - Step 1 program and recommendation of management.
• Proficiency in MS Excel/spreadsheets is required.

Responsibilities

• Plans activity for the short-term and long-term.
• Develops department production schedule.
• Supervises a group of employees and motivates for maximum productivity.
• Ensures operations meet or exceed efficiency and quality standards.
• Identifies and resolves problems and opportunities for improvement.
• Coaches and counsels employees and initiates corrective actions.
• Ensures compliance with all policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
• Manages inventory and participates in the inventory process.
• Develops understanding of product costing, production scheduling, and budget control.
• Ensures machinery is properly maintained and operations align with laws and policies.
• Gains knowledge of Continuous Improvement and safety procedures.
• Learns HR policies and practices and tours other locations.
• Participates in the Safety Committee and OSHA compliance.
• Completes courses and assignments as directed by Plant Management.
