Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary: Various duties including computer support, classroom support, and assisting with event set-up.
Customer Service & Communication
- Manage primary service channels by answering incoming phone calls, routing messages to the appropriate staff, and greeting visitors with a professional demeanor.
- Resolve assigned service tickets diligently, escalating complex issues to full-time staff when necessary to ensure timely resolution.
- Assist with campus ID card printing and verification processes for students, faculty, and staff.
Technical & Classroom Support
- Provide basic computer troubleshooting for hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
- Deliver hands‑on classroom assistance to help instructors set up and operate audiovisual (AV) equipment.
- Provide active on‑site support across campus to troubleshoot immediate technical or access‑related issues.
Administrative & Data Entry
- Input and maintain accurate data within computerized systems for scheduling and inventory tracking.
- Perform light office duties, including filing, organizing, and maintaining clean, functional workspaces.
- Execute other operational tasks and special projects as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Active enrollment as a student at the university, maintaining minimum GPA requirements.
- Strong verbal communication skills with a customer‑first mindset for phone and in‑person interactions.
- Basic technical literacy, including familiarity with Windows/Mac OS, Microsoft 365, and common internet applications.
- Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to adhere to a consistent weekly schedule around academic classes.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally to transport lightweight computer or AV equipment.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service, office, or retail environment.
- Familiarity with AV setups (projectors, HDMI switchers, displays) or a strong interest in learning technology infrastructure.
- Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to follow step‑by‑step technical guides or knowledge base articles independently.
- Hardware knowledge of Apple computers and iPads.
- Classroom AV knowledge desired.
- Willing to learn.
Special Instructions to Applicants
Our department operates between 7:30 am and 6:00 pm each day of the week. For consideration, please let us know your work availability for each hour of each day (including weekends). It is wise not to be overly limited by your availability hours. Students are paired with each other alongside selected staff members on designated shifts, but can also be required to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
On‑the‑job training in the proper use of equipment is available; prior knowledge of computers, A/V presentation systems, and office skills is a plus.
Successful completion of a criminal background check is required for the final candidate.
