Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is seeking a Right of Way professional to support property and servitude acquisitions for transportation projects across Louisiana. The role involves title research, negotiations with owners, and statewide travel to ensure timely, compliant right of way actions.

The ideal candidate will have experience in right of way, real estate, or relocation assistance, plus a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

Three years of experience in property rights acquisition, real estate acquisition, real estate property management, relocation assistance, or real estate appraisal.
Experience substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned may count as one year of experience, up to 120 hours.

Responsibilities

Acquire right of way, servitudes and other real property.
Research titles in courthouses and prepare title research reports with ownership and legal descriptions.
Prepare project documents (Notices, Just Compensation Letters, Declarations) per state/federal requirements.
Contact owners and interested parties to negotiate acquisitions.
Maintain electronic status reports and compile project status reports.
Prepare deeds, signatures, and record deeds in courthouses; handle vouchers and payments.
Prepare Relocation Assistance Plans and cost/move payments.
Review consultant/acquisition files for completeness and correctness.
Assist in relocating families and businesses for right of way.
Travel as required.
