Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is seeking a Right of Way professional to support property acquisition for transportation projects statewide. The role involves title research, negotiations with property owners, and coordination with consultants, with travel across Louisiana.

The ideal candidate will have strong investigative, negotiating, and documentation skills, and experience in right of way processes, appraisal support, and relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in property rights acquisition, real estate acquisition, real estate property management, relocation assistance, or real estate appraisal.
• Six years of full-time experience in any field.
• A bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Acquire right of way, servitudes and other real property.
• Research titles in courthouses and prepare title research reports with current ownership and legal descriptions.
• Prepare documents such as Notice Letters, Just Compensation Offers, and Relocation Plans in line with state and federal guidelines.
• Contact property owners and other parties to negotiate right of way acquisitions.
• Maintain electronic status reports and compile project status updates.
• Prepare deeds, record in courthouses, and disburse funds for acquisitions and services.
• Prepare Relocation Plans and cost estimates, moving expenses, and replacements housing payments.
• Review consultant files for completeness in acquisition projects.
• Assist in relocating families, businesses, and property for right of way projects.
• Some travel is required.
