Job summary

The Right of Way Bureau of the Iowa Department of Transportation seeks a Right of Way Agent 2 to acquire and negotiate for public and highway projects, ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements. You will be the face of the department, representing Iowa citizens with strong communication and negotiation skills.

You will travel within Iowa, set your own schedule, and work with higher-level agents and supervisors to complete complex property transactions and relocation activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and two years of Right of Way Agent experience in real estate appraisal, property acquisition, relocation assistance, or related activity.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to travel extensively within Iowa.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate non-voluntary (Eminent Domain) real estate transactions for highway projects.
• Assist displaced persons via Relocation Assistance program.
• Assess eligibility and benefits for displaced persons.
• Document contacts with clear reports and assemble files for processing.
• Ensure all required paperwork is complete and filed.
• Inspect land and buildings including diverse topographies.
