Job summary

City of Phenix City is seeking a full-time limb & debris technician within the Public Works – Limbs & Debris division. Under immediate supervision, you will assist in right-of-way maintenance, debris removal, loading/unloading tools, and supporting equipment operators to keep right of way clear for mowing operations.

You will help position traffic control devices, direct traffic with hand signals and radios, and attend safety meetings while wearing required safety gear and uniforms.

Qualifications

• Operate lawn mowers, weed eaters and blowers.
• Perform general equipment maintenance and ensure operability.
• Work with courtesy and tact; ability to work independently.
• Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and stored properly.
• Attend departmental and safety meetings and follow dress codes.
• Be willing to work non-duty hours, holidays and weekends when needed.

Responsibilities

• A. Right-of-way Maintenance (75%) – Pick up litter and debris and clear vegetation for mowing.
• B. Traffic Control (10%) – Position traffic devices and direct traffic with hand signals and radios.
• C. Equipment Maintenance (10%) – Prepare tools, ensure maintenance, and store equipment properly.
• D. Services to Department (5%) – Attend safety meetings and maintain uniforms and safety attire.
