Job summary

City of Phenix City is seeking a skilled equipment operator for outdoor utilities work. You will inspect and service heavy equipment, perform repairs, and prepare sites and materials for asphalt and water line projects.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid Class B CDL license. You will work with a team in an outdoor environment and follow daily work orders under supervision.

Qualifications

• Have high school education, GED or demonstrated level of proficiency
• Valid Class B CDL state driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Inspect equipment for proper operating condition and perform safety checks.
• Lubricate equipment with a grease gun.
• Check oil, water and hydraulic fluid levels; add fluids if needed.
• Perform minor repairs and services on equipment including replacing blown light bulbs and fuses; inspect tires and inflate.
• Refuel vehicle and gas powered equipment as needed.
• Operate push mower and string trimmer to maintain facility grounds.
• Operate jackhammer, backhoe and concrete saw for repairs and paving work.
• Review work orders and inspect work sites to determine repair or installation needs.
