Job summary

City of Phenix City is seeking a full-time Utilities – Wastewater Collection worker to maintain and repair sewer lines, install main lines and taps, perform concrete work, and handle related general labor tasks outdoors.

Responsibilities include using pipe saws, jackhammers and other tools, setting up traffic control, ensuring safety compliance, and assisting with backhoe/bush hog work as needed.

Qualifications

• High School/GED or equivalent training and experience.
• Prior construction experience preferred.
• Valid State Issued Driver’s License is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Installs main sewer lines, new taps, repair broken line services, cut and clean right-of-ways, and assist in televising sewer lines.
• Assist in positioning traffic control devices around work zones to conform with traffic control standards; direct traffic using devices, signals and radios.
• Gather tools, load onto truck, ensure tools are in good condition, maintain and store equipment properly.
• Attend departmental and safety meetings; follow dress codes and safety rules; perform additional tasks as needed.
