Job summary

City of Phenix City is seeking a Service Maintenance Worker (Semi-Skilled) for the Parks & Recreation – Maintenance division. The role supports maintenance of parks, athletic fields, and recreation centers, operating a range of equipment and performing routine inspections.

The position is full-time, non-exempt, requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver license. Work hours vary by season with overtime as needed; reports to the Maintenance Superintendent.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid state driver license required.
• Experience operating maintenance equipment preferred.
• Able to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Operates mowers, tractors, backhoe, and dump trucks in maintenance and field prep.
• Uses two-way radio to contact other crews and supervisor.
• Operates hand and power tools for vegetation management and repairs.
• Inspects and maintains vehicles and equipment for safe operation.
• Completes shop work orders and ensures equipment serviced at designated intervals.
