Job summary

City of Phenix City is seeking a full-time Limb & Debris Maintenance worker in the Engineering / Public Works – Limbs & Debris division. Under supervision and with minimal instruction assists in maintenance of right of ways and limbs and debris removal, traffic control, and directing traffic using flags and signals.

Loads and maintains tools, and supports the department as needed. The role requires working with hand tools, power trimmers, blowers, and chainsaws, seasonal mowing with push mowers,

Qualifications

• High school education or GED required.
• Knowledge of limb & debris division procedures and safety rules.
• Ability to operate hand tools and powerEquipment used in mowing and debris removal.

Responsibilities

• Picks up litter and debris from right of way ahead of mowing operations to ensure no obstructions or debris is present for the mowers.
• Removes grass clippings, vegetation, limbs, and trees using hand tools and power equipment.
• Trims grass and vegetation around obstacles behind the mowing operation using hand tools and power trimmers.
• Cuts grass on right of ways and easements using push mowers.
• Removes piles of debris from right of way by gathering and loading onto truck.
• Assist in positioning traffic control devices around work zone.
• Directs traffic around work zone using devices, signals, and radios.
• Loads tools and equipment onto truck and ensures they are maintained.
• Attends departmental and safety meetings as required.
