Job summary

HDR is seeking a Right of Way Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of right of way projects across the Mid-Atlantic region. The role partners with project managers, acquisition teams, clients and stakeholders to coordinate execution, monitor schedules and budgets, manage deliverables and assist with staff development and growth initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist PMs or Leads for successful delivery of right of way projects by aiding planning, execution, budgeting, scheduling, reporting and client communications.
  • Coordinate activities among acquisition agents, title specialists, project managers, surveyors, appraisers and other stakeholders to meet objectives.
  • Monitor schedules, parcel status, deliverables and milestones; identify risks and propose corrective actions.
  • Assist in tracking budgets, forecasts, invoicing and change management activities.
  • Prepare project reports, status updates, meeting summaries and client-facing docs.
  • Support landowner engagement and resolve issues related to property rights, easements and access.
  • Coordinate quality reviews and verify documentation complies with standards and client requirements.
  • Assist with resource planning and workload coordination to align teams with needs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders and internal teams for successful outcomes

The Right of Way Assistant Project Manager supports the successful delivery of right of way projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. This position works closely with project managers, acquisition teams, clients, and stakeholders to coordinate project execution, monitor schedules and budgets, manage deliverables, support staff development, and assist with business growth initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of right of way services and a demonstrated ability to support complex infrastructure projects while maintaining a high level of client service and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Support PMs or Leads for successful delivery of right of way projects by assisting with project planning, execution, budgeting, scheduling, reporting, and client communications.
  • Coordinate activities among acquisition agents, title specialists, project managers, surveyors, appraisers, and other project stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Monitor project schedules, parcel status, deliverables, and milestones, identifying risks and recommending corrective actions when necessary, under the supervision of a Project Manager.
  • Assist in tracking project budgets, forecasts, invoicing, and change management activities.
  • Prepare project reports, status updates, meeting summaries, and client-facing documentation.
  • Support landowner engagement efforts and help resolve project issues related to property rights acquisition, easements, access agreements, and stakeholder concerns.
  • Coordinate quality reviews and verify project documentation complies with company standards and client requirements.
  • Assist with resource planning and workload coordination to help verify project teams are effectively aligned with project needs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, project stakeholders, and internal teams to promote successful project outcomes
Preferred Qualifications
  • IRWA certification or progress toward professional right of way credentials.
  • Experience supporting electric transmission, distribution, renewable energy, transportation, pipeline, telecommunications, or public infrastructure projects.
  • Experience managing acquisition programs, coordinating field staff, and overseeing consultant performance.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to right of way acquisition and property rights.
  • Experience developing project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans.
  • Demonstrated credibility with ROW agents, project managers, accounting, quality, and clients
  • Preference given to candidates currently residing in the Mid-Atlantic (VA/MD/DC) Area
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 5 years related experience
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) Glen Allen, VA: $91,700 - $131,000.
