Qualifications

• Knowledge of rigging best practices and safety protocols.
• Ability to inspect and select rigging gear for known loads.
• Clear communication signals for crane operations.
• Ability to read and follow lift instructions and charts.
• Willingness to work at heights and in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

• Review routine lift instructions for load weight and rigging.
• Establish exclusion zones and verify crew positions and safety measures.
• Perform pre-use inspections of slings, shackles, hooks, and other gear.
• Select routine rigging matching load and environment.
• Use charts to verify sling angles and connections.
• Build standard hitches and ensure correct seating and edge protection.
• Conduct test lifts to confirm balance and brake response.
• Provide hand or radio signals for routine lifts as needed.
• Guide loads along planned routes and de-rig when safe.
• Use appropriate hoists and equipment within rated limits.
• Escalate any nonroutine conditions or unsafe situations.
