Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a Rigging Specialist to perform routine and critical rigging tasks in our facilities projects. You will inspect gear, select rigging configurations, and signal crane operators to move loads safely.

The role requires current Signalperson and RIG-I certifications, plus the ability to work at heights with appropriate PPE. Responsibilities include following lift instructions, maintaining exclusion zones, and conducting pre-use inspections of rigging gear with strict adherence to

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with rigging experience.
• Current CCO Signalperson certification required.
• Current CCO RIG-I certification required.
• Documented qualification for rigging duties as assigned.
• Ability to operate forklifts, telehandlers, aerial lifts and MEWPs when required.
• Ability to work independently with safety and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Review routine lift instructions including load weight and travel path.
• Establish exclusion zones and verify crew positions and signal methods.
• Perform pre-use inspections of slings, hooks, and hoists; remove defects.
• Select rigging configurations matching load and environment.
• Use charts to compute sling angles and verify connections.
• Build vertical, chokers, and basket hitches and ensure edge protection.
• Conduct controlled test lifts; verify balance and braking.
• Provide standard hand or radio signals for routine lifts.
• Guide loads along planned routes and land on prepared supports.
• Stop unsafe lifts and escalate when criteria are not met.
