Job summary

Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. in Durham, NC is seeking a skilled Rigger to perform rigging, hoisting, and load handling on industrial projects. You will select equipment, guide crane operators, and ensure worker safety on-site while meeting project timelines.

Travel may be required and significant safety training is expected. Candidates should be able to work in varied environments, communicate clearly, and follow established procedures to protect personnel and materials.

Qualifications

• Effective written and verbal communication is required.
• Must complete safety and general job training as required by SIC.
• Observe SIC and customer safety and quality processes at all times.

Responsibilities

• Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves according to weight and size of load.
• Attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures with bolts and clamps.
• Attach load with grappling devices to crane hook.
• Give directions to Crane Operator using hand signals or radio to ensure safety.
• Set up, brace, and rig hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches.
• Splice rope and wire to make or repair slings and tackle.
• Coordinate movement of equipment according to signals and directions.
• Rate information using measurable standards.
• Detect and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Significant travel may be required.
• Performs other duties as required.
