Responsibilities

• Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves according to load requirements.
• Attach pulley and blocks to overhead structures with bolts and clamps.
• Attach load with grappling devices to crane hook and guide hoisting operations.
• Direct Crane Operator using hand signals, loudspeaker, or telephone to ensure safety.
• Set up, brace, and rig hoisting equipment with hand tools and wrenches.
• Splice rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle.
• Coordinate movement of equipment and materials per signals and directions.
• Recognize and respond to dangerous conditions on site.
