Job description

Welder - Rig

This position requires the ability to join metal parts, such as pipes or metal plates, according to layout, blueprints, work orders, welding procedures, or oral instructions through the application of heat or electric arc-welding equipment. Other duties may be assigned. MUST HAVE YOUR OWN RIG.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Use spot welding gun or hand, electric, or gas welding equipment to weld or tack weld pieces together.
2. Unite pipes from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas and turn valves to release the mixture.
3. Achieve the expected temperature, size, and color of flame by burning torch and adjusting flow of gas and air.
4. Preheat workpieces for welding or shaping using a torch.
5. Fill holes or correct mistakes in lead pieces and make bulges thin and curves in metal workpieces.
6. Check the strength of workpieces and measure with straightedge or template to ensure specifications are met.
7. Climb ladders or work on scaffolds to disassemble textures.
8. Signal crane operators to lift large workpieces.
9. Use thermal-cutting equipment such as flame-cutting torch or plasma-arc to dismount metal assemblies or cut scrap metal.
10. Use hoists, cranes, wire and banding machines, or hand tools to place and secure workpieces.
11. Select welding location based on type, thickness, area, and expected temperature of the metal to ensure safety.
12. Instruct and operate flame or electrodes to straighten, curve, dissolve, or develop metal.
13. Join pieces, cover taut points, and add metal to develop parts.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education: No minimum education requirements.

Experience: 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience.
