Job description

Welder - Rig

This position requires the ability to join metal parts, such as pipes or metal plates, according to specifications from layouts, blueprints, work orders, welding procedures, or oral instructions, through the application of heat or electric arc-welding equipment. Other duties may be assigned. MUST HAVE YOUR OWN RIG.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Use spot welding guns or hand, electric, or gas welding equipment to weld or tack weld pieces together.
  2. Unite pipes from torches to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas, and operate valves to release the mixture.
  3. Achieve the expected temperature, size, and color of the flame by burning torches and adjusting gas and air flow.
  4. Preheat workpieces for welding or shaping using a torch.
  5. Fill holes or correct mistakes in lead pieces, and make bulges thin and curves in metal workpieces.
  6. Check the integrity of workpieces and measure them with a straightedge or template to ensure they meet specifications.
  7. Climb ladders or scaffolds to disassemble textures as needed.
  8. Signal crane operators to lift large workpieces.
  9. Use thermal-cutting equipment such as flame-cutting torches or plasma-arc equipment to disassemble metal assemblies or cut scrap metal.
  10. Use hoists, cranes, wire and banding machines, or hand tools to position and secure workpieces.
  11. Select welding locations based on metal type, thickness, area, and expected temperature to ensure safety and quality.
  12. Operate flame or electrodes to straighten, curve, dissolve, or develop metal as required.
  13. Join pieces, cover taut points, and add metal to develop parts.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required for this Position:

Education: No minimum education requirements.

Experience: 3-5 years of Journeyman-level experience.
