Job summary

RC Industries is seeking a machinist to convert engineering drawings into programmable formats and operate small to mid-sized tooling. You will use programming software, load turret programs, and ensure items move on schedule while meeting lean metrics.

Responsibilities include reporting defects, maintaining 5S and safety standards, mentoring teammates, and supporting lean manufacturing goals. Fluency in English, blueprint reading, and measurement tool use are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic math and counting skills.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret measurements.

Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes: Your Accountabilities in the RoleMaintaining High Quality and Efficiency (90% of the job)Convert Engineering drawings to enable them to be written into programsUse the programming software to its fullest potentialUse press brake program needs list to ensure items are moving according to schedulesUse sequence list to ensure items are moving according to schedules and on-time delivery measures are met as set by lean metric goalsUphold RC Industries quality model by conducting all in-process checks as well as report any defects to your Front-Line LeaderProgram new parts and update existing parts for better efficiencyOrder tooling as needed for machineEnsure 5s assignments are completeTimely labor reporting for jobs completed in VisualWear required Persona Protective Equipment and abide by safety rules at all timesMentoring & Training (5% of the job)Use strengths and skills to mentor and train others in meeting and exceeding delivery dates and customer expectationsSupports leaders and other team areas as needed to meet overall team goalsParticipate in incident investigations as neededOther Areas of Responsibility (5% of the job)Attend safety meetings as neededFollow RCII’s policies as outlined in the Employee HandbookParticipate in lean manufacturing activitiesThe job criteria may include other duties, responsibilities and activities, which may change or be assigned at any item with or without notice.Position Requirements:Education: A high school diploma or GEDExperience: 2 or more years’ experience using small to mid-sized tools and computing measurements; experience in quality a plusCertification(s): n/aFunctional Skills:Basic math and counting skills (skills assessment)Use of measuring tools such as tape measure, calipers, paint mil. checker, micrometers, etc.Able to read, understand and follow work instructionsAble to read and understand blueprintsAble to work using small hand tools at a good speedAble to be flexible and move from job to job as priorities changeAbility to use over head cranes and lifting devicesTechnology Aptitude/Skills: Ability to use computers to review procedures and enter data; Ability to pull up programs and load them into the turretLanguage Skills: Able to read/write/speak English fluently and is able to fill out all required forms and paperwork needed for the position; communicates in a positive wayLeadership/Behaviors: Self-directed, highly-motivated, and ability to be a team player; provide mentoring and training to support the team and reach departmental goalsCulture Match Behaviors: Respectful of others, goal and customer-focused; ability to stay focused on quality as well as being efficient to produce a high level of output on the job; embraces RC Industries values, expectations, and ideas
