Job summary

Convergint seeks a full-time Solutions Estimator in San Diego, CA to bridge entry-level estimators with senior design and estimating professionals. You will prepare accurate cost estimates for medium to large-scale RFPs, greenfield projects, and complex scopes, partnering with sales, engineering, procurement, and project teams.

The role emphasizes programmatic customer work, vendor sourcing, risk assessment, and value engineering to ensure profitability and competitive proposals.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of estimating, project management, or system design experience.
• Experience with large-scale RFPs and programmatic projects.
• Ability to read construction documents and technical scopes.
• Proficiency in estimating software, Excel, and collaboration tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate, detailed cost estimates for medium to large-scale RFPs, greenfield projects, and complex scopes.
• Bridge the gap between entry-level estimating and senior design and estimating professionals, taking ownership of medium-to-large opportunities with programmatic customers.
• Analyze project requirements, specifications, and technical documents to understand scope, risks, and deliverables.
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, procurement, and project management to ensure estimates reflect accurate costs, resources, and timelines.
• Evaluate project scopes, interpret blueprints, analyze costs, and influence pricing and feasibility.
• Participate in site walks, pre-bid meetings, and technical discussions to assess needs.
• Source pricing from vendors, subcontractors, and partners to meet specifications.
• Identify scope gaps, risks, and value engineering opportunities for innovative solutions.
• Prepare professional proposals with technical details, pricing, and justification.
• Work with installation teams to ensure feasibility and accuracy of estimates.
• Apply industry knowledge of regulations and compliance requirements.
• Track project costs, risks, and margins to optimize pricing strategies.
• Stay updated on security technology, standards, and product pricing.
• Ensure estimates align with pricing strategies and market competitiveness.
• Prepare and present accurate proposals to customers.
• Assist in managing the estimating process for programmatic customers for consistency and scalability.
• Support Solutions Architects and senior leaders on large or specialized projects.
• Perform other duties as requested.
