Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking an RF Test Engineer to design, build, and test RF waveforms and systems for challenging national security problems. You will analyze data and deliver RF capabilities across lab and field environments, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.

The role involves on-site work at APL's campus and test sites, with emphasis on leadership, communication, and advanced RF/digital signal processing skills. A security clearance may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or another field relevant to the duties.
  • Experience with RF lab test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators.
  • Experience with coding languages such as python, matlab, or c++.
  • Experience with RF concepts such as network parameters, impedance, and distributed RF circuits.
  • Experience in generating link budgets
  • Experience developing digital signal processing solutions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work independently or as part of a multi-discipline team.
  • The ability to work on-site at APL's main campus as well as at commercial and government test sites.
  • Are able to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and lead teams in the design and construction of hardware and software test beds.
  • Participate in and lead teams in the integration of hardware and software systems.
  • Define and execute hardware and software tests to characterize systems and validate that specifications and system requirements derived from high-level operational need statements are met.
  • Plan, participate in or lead, and document the results of field tests conducted both at the lab and at CONUS and OCONUS test sites.
  • Participate in and lead teams in varied analyses of data captured in the lab and at field test events.
  • Document and present work to sponsors and the technical, DoW, and IC communities.
  • Continually grow your skills in engineering, communication, and leadership.
