Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL, seeks a Revenue Integrity Specialist to optimize revenue, ensure regulatory compliance, and protect reimbursement integrity across departments. You will review CPT/HCPCS coding, perform pre-bill edits, and support clinical teams to document services accurately.

This role requires advanced coding proficiency, experience with charge capture, and the ability to analyze trends and communicate findings to leadership.

Qualifications

• RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC/COC/CIC, AAPC, or other coding credentials required.
• HFMA Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist (CRCS) certifications preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Management, or Hospital-related fields.
• Minimum of three years of experience in billing, charge documentation, charge audit, or charge capture activities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate CPT/HCPCS documentation for billing and educate departments on proper coding.
• Perform pre-bill edits (OCE/CCI, DNFB) and assist with charge capture and validation.
• Provide at-elbow support to ancillary departments and address charge deficiencies or errors.
• Conduct charge entry, approvals, and quality reviews, with modifiers and documentation checks.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Management, or Hospital-related fields

HFMA CRCS certifications preferred
