Job summary

Urology Centers of Alabama seeks a Certified Professional Coder to interpret and bill physician charges for physician services, entering charges into the Billing System using CPT and ICD-10 codes.

Under the Revenue Cycle Manager, you will review notes, operative reports, discharge summaries, and charge documents to assign precise codes, ensuring compliant billing and timely reimbursement. You will work with Reimbursement staff to resolve coding inquiries and support department goals.

Qualifications

• Must be a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) with CPT/ICD-10 experience.
• Strong medical terminology knowledge and anatomy understanding.
• Knowledge of third-party billing and regulatory guidelines.
• Excellent interpersonal communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently or in a team in a fast-paced setting.
• Proficiency with PC, Windows, MS Office, EMR, and billing tools.
• Maintain strict confidentiality per HIPAA and UCA guidelines.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial charge review and assign ICD-10 and CPT codes.
• Interpret notes, operative reports, and discharge summaries to code services.
• Enter data into Billing System with codes, modifiers, and times.
• Communicate with physicians about procedures and coding details.
• Review patient logs to ensure all billable services are captured.
• Follow up to ensure services are billed and coded timely.
• Correct coding denials and resubmit claims for reimbursement.
• Maintain batch processes and comply with audit standards.
• Participate in meetings and contribute to process improvements.
