Luminis Health in Annapolis, MD is seeking a Patient Accounts Specialist to follow up on third-party payer accounts receivable and appeals. You will work within the Patient Financial Services team to optimize cash flow and support the revenue cycle.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience performing hospital accounts receivable or related billing experience.

Responsibilities

• Follows up on third-party payer accounts receivable and appeals.
• Ensures billing and collection support revenue cycle functions of claims submission.
• Acts as liaison with patients, other departments and PFS teammates for claims processing and payment.
• Interacts with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with billing and reimbursement requirements.
• Keeps current on regulatory requirements regarding billing and reimbursement for payer requirements and statutes.
• Obtains health insurance information and approvals needed for services as appropriate.
• Communicates with all departments as needed.
• Facilitates resolution of third-party receivables by contacting external departments and payors.
• Performs standard work daily including third-party follow up and reporting activities.
