Job summary

Psychiatry Associates of Kansas City in Leawood, KS seeks a Revenue Cycle Coordinator to maximize insurance reimbursement, reduce denials, and improve revenue cycle efficiency. This full-time, hourly, non-exempt role reports to the Operations Director.

You will investigate denials, work queues, submit corrected claims and appeals, and stay current with payer policies and HIPAA requirements. Strong analytical skills and experience in a multi-provider practice are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three (3) years of revenue cycle, medical billing, insurance claims, or medical office experience in a multi-provider physician practice.
• Strong understanding of medical billing and insurance claim processing, revenue cycle operations, and payer types.
• Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS coding principles and HIPAA regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Preferred experience with NextGen Practice Management and EHR; behavioral health or specialty practice experience.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve insurance claim denials, underpayments, and payment discrepancies.
• Work assigned denial queues, claim edit worklists, payer rejection reports, and other revenue cycle work queues.
• Submit corrected claims, appeals, reconsiderations, and supporting documentation.
• Communicate professionally with patients regarding insurance-related billing questions.
• Analyze denial trends and recommend process improvements that reduce future denials.
• Stay current on payer policies, coding updates, and industry regulations.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
