Job summary

Inova Health System in Falls Church, VA is seeking a Revenue Cycle Analyst to join our team. This full-time hybrid role focuses on analyzing claims, denials, and workflow issues across Revenue Cycle to improve financial performance.

You will build dashboards, monitor accounts at risk, and support cross-functional projects with healthcare analytics expertise. The position includes collaboration with clinical and financial teams in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• 2 years of Revenue Cycle or related experience in healthcare or finance.
• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in Finance, Healthcare Analytics or Healthcare IT is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and resolves moderately complex claims, payment discrepancies, denials, or workflow issues across Revenue Cycle.
• Analyzes account- and population-level data to quantify financial exposure and identify patterns.
• Interprets payer policies, plan requirements, and remittance information to support resolution.
• Determines root causes and recommends next actions to address gaps.
• Builds and maintains reports, scorecards, or dashboards tracking dollars at risk and trends.
• Translates findings into workflow or system requirements and participates in testing.
• Provides peer support and guidance to Revenue Cycle Associates.
• Uses advanced analytic tools to identify trends and prioritize work.
• Monitors implemented solutions to validate impact and supports ad-hoc projects.

Job Responsibilities:

• Independently investigates and resolves moderately complex claims, payment discrepancies, denials, underpayments, retractions, or workflow issues across one or more Revenue Cycle functions.
• Analyzes account- and population-level data to quantify financial exposure, identify patterns, validate root cause, and distinguish isolated errors from systemic issues.
• Interprets payer policies, plan requirements, claim edits, remittance information, and applicable contract provisions to support resolution and escalation.
• Determines whether an issue is driven by internal process, documentation or coding gaps, technology configuration, payer behavior, or contract ambiguity and recommend next actions.
• Builds and maintains recurring reports, issue logs, scorecards, or dashboards that track dollars at risk, aging, recoveries, trends, and resolution status.
• Translates root cause findings into workflow, education, system, or automation requirements and participate in testing and implementation.
• Provides peer support, knowledge sharing, and task guidance to Revenue Cycle Associates.
• Leverages advanced analytic tools to identify trends, root cause analysis and prioritize work
• Monitors implemented solutions to validate resolution, quantify financial or operational impact.
• Supports revenue cycle ad-hoc projects.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

• Experience - 2 years of experience in Revenue Cycle, Finance, Healthcare IT, Healthcare Analytics, Healthcare Operations or relevant experience
• Education - Bachelor's degree; or Associate degree and 2 years relevant professional experience in addition to the minimum Experience requirement; or HS Diploma/GED and 4 years relevant professional experience in addition to the minimum Experience requirement.
