The role owns the end-to-end revenue application lifecycle—contract setup, pricing and rating, invoice delivery, dispute resolution, data quality oversight, and continuous automation—across assigned railroads, customers, and lanes. The Analyst also provides analytical support to the Sales and Operations Team through targeted analysis and ad‑hoc reporting. Success is measured by accuracy, timeliness, automation, data integrity and standards adherence, and improvements in dispute cycle time.

  • Maintain rate authorities and ensure adherence to internal controls, data standards, AAR Accounting Rules, and ASC 606 requirements.

Revenue Application & Invoicing

  • Execute automated rating; audit for missing, incorrect, or unbilled charges; deliver invoices accurately and on time.
  • Monitor exception queues, investigate root causes, and implement durable solutions to minimize recurring issues.

Dispute Resolution & Collections Support

  • Partner with Collections to accelerate cash, reduce DSO, and troubleshoot billing and pricing issues.

Waybill & Data Quality

  • Ensure waybill, interchange, and industry reference data meet required accuracy standards to support correct rating and revenue recognition.
  • Partner with Class I railroads, shippers, and internal teams to resolve data integrity issues (e.g., interchange errors, routing discrepancies, missing data elements).
  • Maintain strict adherence to data governance rules, ensuring all data inputs and updates follow company and industry standards.

Contract Lifecycle & Renewal

  • Prepare contract renewals and change orders; collaborate with Commercial on pricing strategy and deal structuring.
  • Maintain clear and current desktop procedures for contract and revenue setup workflows.

Data Quality, Compliance & Adherence

  • Own and champion data quality for assigned roads, customers, and revenue streams—ensuring all contract, rate, and shipment data is accurate, complete, consistent, and compliant.
  • Enforce adherence to internal data standards, naming conventions, reference file alignment, and revenue system configuration rules.
  • Perform routine audits to validate the integrity of rates, waybills, accessorials, and customer master data; remediate gaps and develop preventative solutions.
  • Support ASC 606 readiness, internal audits, and process reviews by maintaining clean, well-documented data and workflows.

Reporting, Sales Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Build and maintain dashboards (billing timeliness, accuracy, leakage, dispute cycle time, data quality metrics).
  • Recommend and support automation and process improvements to reduce manual work and exception volume.
  • Provide timely, accurate revenue analysis and ad‑hoc reporting to the Sales Team and/or Operations team, including contract impact modeling, lane/commodity performance, pricing validation, and customer‑specific insights.
  • Partner with Sales to support pricing proposals, evaluate revenue opportunities, and strengthen customer‑facing presentations with actionable data.
  • Billing timeliness & accuracy
  • Revenue leakage identified vs. recovered
  • Dispute cycle time and resolution quality
