Job summary

First American is seeking a Director of Retirement Benefits to lead the strategic design, governance, and administration of the company’s retirement and financial wellness programs. This executive role oversees 401(k) plan operations, fiduciary governance, vendor relationships, and regulatory compliance while partnering with senior leaders to align retirement strategies with business objectives.

Reporting to the Vice President of Total Rewards, the role drives program design, investment

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive retirement benefits experience, including plan design and administration.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing complex retirement programs.
• Experience supporting retirement plans with assets exceeding $2 billion.
• Advanced analytical, financial, and project management skills.
• Excellent presentation and communication capabilities.
• Experience leading RFPs, contract negotiations, and fee benchmarking.
• Strong expertise in 401(k) plan administration, ERISA, fiduciary governance, and investment oversight.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute long-term retirement strategy and plan design enhancements.
• Lead retirement benefits team and advise HR leadership.
• Partner with Finance, Legal, Internal Audit and other teams.
• Oversee fiduciary governance, vendor management, and investment oversight.
• Manage plan administration, testing, audits, and regulatory filings.
• Provide education and communications to employees on retirement and financial wellness.
