Job summary

First American Bank is seeking a Retirement Plan Consultant to manage an assigned book of business and drive new relationships across the Chicago market. You will work with clients and internal partners on plan design, regulatory compliance, and participant education to ensure satisfaction and retention.

The role requires six years in retirement plans, a strong DC focus, and excellent communication. Occasional travel to client locations is expected, with standard hours Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• High school degree required; bachelor’s preferred.
• Six years in retirement plan industry with a strong defined contribution focus.
• Three years’ relationship management/consulting experience.
• Strong knowledge of ERISA and Internal Revenue Code as it applies to qualified retirement plans; mutual funds knowledge.
• Professional communication with internal and external contacts; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on plan design, regulatory issues, and administrative solutions.
• Develop plan designs to meet objectives and implement changes as needed.
• Coordinate with outside plan professionals (CPAs, attorneys, advisers).
• Cultivate new business referrals and build relationships for growth.
• Ensure timely billing and collection of fees and maintain plan profitability.
• Prepare required IRS filings and support audits.
