Retina Consultants of Texas is seeking a Subspeciality Ophthalmic Technician to join our team in Bellaire. The role involves accurate documentation of patient history and performing preliminary ocular examinations. Candidates must be able to travel to various clinics and support flexible clinic hours.

Qualifications

• One to two years’ experience as an ophthalmic assistant preferred.
• Certification as an ophthalmic assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains patient history including chief complaint and past medical history.
• Performs and documents visual acuity and ocular tonometry.
• Provides compassionate patient care throughout the clinic flow.
• Maintains cleanliness in exam and procedure rooms.
• Troubleshoots equipment as necessary.

Ability to perform comprehensive work ups

Thorough understanding of diseases and symptoms

Ability to educate patients

HIPAA training

Use of multiple computer systems

Education

High school diploma
